Final concluding paragraphs
The message that is connoted for
each audio-visual promo is different to each other. This would be through how
the message connoted in the music video is that it is good to provide for other
people, which would contrast to the message that is connoted for the trailer
for the film, which is that everyone can get treated differently due to their
appearances and that we must treat everyone equally. Some messages in some ways
are similar. The message for the trailer for the TV show would be that people’s
surrounding and the area that they live in can affect how someone can be raised
and grow up. This would have some similarities to the trailer for the film as
the message connoted is that people may grow up in a life where they can be
affected by many things, such as segregation. In terms of the narratives, they all have a similarity of the idea to promote a product. The trailer for Minions 2 and Selma both have some sort of similar narrative, with Minions having the narrative of bringing back the special gem and Selma having the narrative of bringing back equal rights. However, they would have the difference in terms of the mood of the narrative, with Minions being a narrative with a happy and energetic mood, whereas Selma takes a more serious mood. Most of these products are fictional. However, this would differ to Drake's music video as the content included is real. This would also be for Selma as the narrative is based on real life. In terms of the technical qualities, they all have the similarity of showing some form of representation in each visual promo. There is diegetic sound included across all of them. The audio visual promos includes close ups. This would be through how in the TV ident, there are close ups of a score board, which would be a significant way to hint at the type of show the channel has. This would differ to the other visual promos, such as the trailer for the TV show, in which includes a mid shot of someone holding a gun in their hands, which would be a way to hint at some sort of violence which would take place in the show.
The product that would be the most
effective in my opinion would be Raising Kanan. This would be due to how
the Trailer is for a prequel to Power, which was a popular tv show which was shown
by Starz and is made by 50 cent, who is a very famous rapper. Also, the trailer
gives a view of the time it is set in, which is in the 90s where there were a
lot of things happening, such as drive by shooting, police car chases, drug dealings
and school fights, which is conveyed in a mid shot, and this would be a great show to an audience who are
interested to know how things were like in that era. The fast cuts that is included would connote that there will be a few actions in the show. Also, 50 cent the rapper
portrayed the character Kanan Stark in the original Power and the audience would
be interested to know how it all started with a different actor, with the idea
that the show is based on a part of his real life.
At this stage of production, I was ready to start editing my Ident. As I have used Final Cut Pro to edit media products in the past, I was adamant that this was an appropriate editing software to use. I had all my footage that I filmed for my Ident inserted into the Mac that I was using with an SD card and I imported every shot that I had filmed onto the software. When I had done this, I looked at all the footage that I had and saw that I had numerous footage. The first thing that I did was make a rushes video, in which I placed all the unedited footage onto the timeline and save it as one video. Then, I shared it as a master file and uploaded it on YouTube as my rushes video. Then, I made a table for the rushes log, which helped me structure out all the footage that I had, how long each one was and which one I would want to keep and which ones that I felt were not useful. By then, I was adamant that I knew how I could use each footage that I had decided to keep. When this was do...
