E4
E4 is a TV channel which is owned by Channel 4. The E stands for entertainment. This channel shows programmes, which are to entertain the audience. These would be shows such as Married at first sight, Brooklyn nine nine, The big bang theory, Made in Chelsea and How I met your mother. The target audience for this channel would be 16-32 year olds. This would be due to how the channel includes shows which the audience can relate to, such as Hollyoaks, which is a soap opera that presents how people live daily. The logo would project a message that entertainment is for a lot of people. The current ident are more animated and relaxed, in which they don't include a lot of stuff on it.
This screengrab presents an ident which is animated. This would be due to how the channel would want to give an introduction to each programme with some form of narrative, in which with this one, the man is chopping down some huge candy sticks to lay it on the ground in the shape of the logo. The overall purpose of the ident's for this channel is to give the audience an idea of what show they are going to watch, with some form of animation hinting at it.
Challenge
Challenge is a TV channel that is on Freeview. This channel has shows, in which some would be competitions based on knowledge, such as The Chase, Who wants to be a millionaire and Bullseye. The target audience for this channel would be for people aged 19-40 years old. This would be due to how this age group would be more interested in shows which would quiz people's knowledge than young people. The logo would project the message of people being smart in different areas. This would be for anyone who has a calm personality.
History of channel and its ident
Challenge was originally called the family channel and launched on 1 September 1993. The idents for this channel launched in 1999. The first couple of idents would present what programme is about to show along with the name of the channel and a moving image of a question mark, which would present to the audience that the shows are quiz related.
Throughout the years, The idents have been changed. Most of the idents have been just the name of the channel alongside some graphics which comes with it. In 2003, The ident would have some form of movement, with a image of the name of the challenge being flipped and presenting a phrase which reads 'Play again?', which would convey that the next programme would be quiz related.
From 00:08, There was an ident which was created in 2004, that presented the name of the channel alongside a background which was presented in bright colours. This would convey the idea that the channel has more content on it. Also, as far this one compared to the ones in the past, they have used a logo as the center feature, however, in this one, there are things appearing in the background, which would be a way to catch the audiences attention.
In 2008, Challenge made an Ident in which had background of a scenery. These would include background such as a beach or a rollercoaster.
In this one, there is a setting of a beach, which would imply the season that the ident would be made for, in which this case, would be for summer. A beach ball appears on the beach and explodes into the name of the channel in the form of the logo. The idea of the name of the channel being bright would convey the idea that some of the different idents would be made for different seasons.
In 2011, Challenge decided to make a new ident in which presented some type of movement at the beginning of it. For this ident, a puzzle with different letters of this word appeared to be mixed up, which was then placed in the correct order with the banner behind it. The idea of the puzzle at the beginning would convey that the content on the programme will include some elements of a puzzle, in which the people included will have to complete some form of puzzle in order to achieve their goals.
This is one of the most recent ident that has been continued to be used. This was created in 2016. The channel refreshed its presence with a brand new logo and presentation. The advertising agency MMMultiply was behind the new look. Three different ident was made with the same content but different element was included in each one. This would be due to how they wanted each ident to present each main thing of the show. In this ident presented, there is a money board which would be familiar to the audience who are a big fan of The Chase.
