Post production - sound report

I went on to adding my background music as this would set the mood that is expressed in my ident. The music that I used was BGM. 2:23am. This choice was based on the fact that this set the tone of people who were going about in their casual day and watching TV was part of it. I converted the music into an MP3 and downloaded it into apple iTunes.

I then imported the music into Final cut Pro and placed it onto the timeline. I decided to place the music during the beginning of the ident. This was so that it would set the mood for the audience who would watch this. As the music was going to be played at the same time someone speaks in the ident, I had decided to lower the volume level of the music a tiny bit so that the person speaking could be heard talking when shown. When the music was imported, the original duration went beyond the total duration of the whole Ident, so I had to cut it down to ensure that it only played until the transition took place.

Another background music that I added was the suspense music for 'Who wants to be a millionaire?'. After converting this music as an MP3, then importing it from Apple iTunes, I then placed it at the part when the questions about the shows were being asked. This was a suitable choice of music as the audience would immediately recognize this music whenever the questions start being asked where someone has the opportunity to win a lot of money. I had the music playing until someone got a question wrong, in which I used another sound to convey this.

I went on to add in some sound effects. These sound effects were mostly the type of sound that would be used for game shows. I followed the same process of converting it into an MP3 and importing it onto  Final Cut Pro. One of the sound effects was the wrong answer sound effects. When I first imported it, the sound was long enough to be played during the section where someone didn't remember one of the answers to a question. Since this was going to be played for a short time, I had no worries in terms of how it should be heard.

I also added other sound effects. I imported a correct answer sound effects. As the two people were questioning each other, this was set in the mode of a normal game show, where there would be some sort of suspense music playing, so the use of these sound effects would follow the procedure of a normal game show, which would have a sound if someone got a question right. The sound effect was short and simple, however, it originally gave an echo effect, so I had to shorten the duration of the sound by a very tiny bit and place it when it was revealed that a question was answered right.

As one of my main issue on the ident was that there was no voiceover that could make the conclusion more better, I decided to record a voiceover. I recorded myself saying what the next programme was going to be, which was 'Who wants to be a millionaire?' and asked a question about if anyone will win the big cash prize at the end of the show. The inclusion of this question would interest the audience as to if anyone has a chance to win it.
